«The Fishing of the Broken Concept» is an oil on canvas of 120 x 150 cm.
It was created in late 2018 in a studio in the old Montmartre district of Paris, France.
This painting is inspired by the biblical verses Matthew 4:18-20 in which Jesus gathers his disciples,
whom he invites to be «fishers of men,» encouraging them to take their boats out to sea in order to
cast their nets into the deep.
The painter interprets this passage as a metaphor in which Jesus invites them to seek knowledge in
the depths.
This is why the rubik’s cube (symbol of totality) at the bottom of the water, is completed, while the
one remaining on the surface remains completely fragmented.
The absence of bait on the hooks represents the impotence of contemporary society, deprived of the
historical tools to give answers to current problems.
